Monday update: Randolph on crutches Just as the Trail Blazers had seemingly turned a corner, winning four games in a row and looking at the return of Brandon Roy, a potentially major stumbling block has arisen: a mysterious injury to forward Zach Randolph, the team's leading scorer and rebounder. Randolph, who is averaging 25.4 points and 10.1 rebounds, woke up Monday morning with pain in the top of his right foot. He said when he went to stand up out of bed and felt a pain so sharp, it caused him fall. Randolph was at practice in street clothes, with a huge bag of ice on the foot, and was using crutches. Coach Nate McMillan termed the injury a "mild sprain." "The X-rays are negative, but I think we're looking at an MRI maybe tomorrow," McMillan said. Randolph said he did not trip or take a blow during practice Sunday, and could not recall anything that would have caused an injury. His availability for Wednesday's game against Houston obviously is up in the air. Meanwhile, Roy practiced for the second straight day without any additional pain in the left heel that caused him to miss 20 games. "Brandon practiced most of the practice," McMillan said. "We want to monitor his minutes. Everything is OK. He woke up this morning, no pain. Today we wanted him to get a sweat, he was going through some sets. We'll see how he feels tomorrow." One of the concerns for Roy was how he would feel the mornings after practices. After practicing Sunday, for the first time in more than five week, he was fine Monday. That seemed like a good sign, McMillan was told.
