Coco Crisp returns to A’s on a two-year deal

As I reported this morning, the A’s very much hoped to re-sign center fielder
Coco Crisp, and I have had it confirmed that it has happened: Crisp comes back
to the team for a two-year deal worth a guaranteed $14 million that includes a
team option for 2014.
The A’s value Crisp’s defense highly – and with an ever younger pitching
staff, good defense up the middle becomes all the more vital.
The deal will not be announced until tomorrow or Thursday.
Earlier in the day, the A’s traded outfielder Jai Miller to the Orioles for
cash. Miller was designated for assignment Dec. 23 in order to create roster
room after the Gio Gonzalez deal.
