The 2-D codes to be investigated will include 2D-LDPC (low density parity check) codes matched to the 2D ISI trellis, and self-synchronizing Marker codes for correcting insertion and deletion errors. The 2D detector to be investigated will include Iterative Row-Column BCJR algorithm, and Oversampled MMSE FDE (minimum-mean-square-error frequency-domain-equalizer) with soft output.
