我也有一样的问题，要申请10多间学校，
大部分打算自己申请，
关於推荐信的部分，
我觉得很奇怪，
我看大部分的学校都有提供上传的功能，
若是在申请时提供上传的话，
这不就是等同学生已经看到推荐函了吗?
那还有甚麽保密的原则?
最让我迷惑的是，
既然可以有Scan上传的版本，
到时就算真的必须提供正本给学校，还有必要"弥封"吗?
也就是说，还有必要在信封处签名吗?
都已经能自己打开Scan，想不出来有弥封的必要性。
所以，我在给教授签名时，
跟教授说，先不要弥封，我需要先扫描推荐信，
(因我申请的系所不同，不是每封都一样)，
我的逻辑是，弥封後，那我要Scan推荐信不就要破坏信封，
那到时提供正本时，不就是一个被破坏的信封和信纸...XD
有人可以教导一下，既然都可以学生自行线上提供推荐函，
还有需要弥封这件事吗?

举一个Southampton的例子，截取网路申请单中的一段话:
If you do not upload a reference with your application but you do provide the
name and e-mail address of your referee they will be sent a referee request
form automatically by e-mail. However, responsibility for ensuring that the
University receives a reference lies with the applicant.
If you do not have an e-mail address for your referee please send the
reference request form
Referees may provide this information direct to the Academic School by email
or post. Emails should be from Institutional email addresses and not personal
accounts (e.g. not Hotmail). References may be posted but they must be
included in a sealed envelope with the reference request form.
If your referee has provided you with an electronic version of their
reference this can be uploaded in the 'Document Upload' section, but they
must be signed and on headed paper.
