His outstanding voice as well as his sensational and exceptional dancing skills put him in a class act of his own. The respect and acclaim from both his fans and his peers alike fully affirm his indisputable place amongst one of the well-recognised 'Four Mega Superstars' of Hong Kong. He has held numerous concerts and received well over a hundred musical awards. In addition, Mr. Kwok has starred as a leading talent in a multitude of movies, television drama series and commercials. Mr. Kwok first entered the entertainment business as a budding singer in 1990 and has always felt that he had been most fortunate to achieve the success in his career due in huge part to the enthusiastic and generous support and encouragement from various sectors of the public and from many people from all walks of life over the past years. As a result and since about 1992, he made up his mind to do his best to give something back to society. As Mr. Kwok had always been deeply humbled and thankful for what life has given him, he was determined to participate in various different community activities, projects and charitable functions as well as co-operate and support Government and charitable organisations in their efforts to help and improve the livelihood of those less fortunate amongst us. Accordingly , Mr. Kwok had always stressed and insisted to his management company that when organising his work schedules, at least one-third of his time must be allocated to community services and activities, such as visiting children in rural areas, care for the elderly living alone, anti-drugs and anti-crime campaigns and so on, hoping o make a positive difference. Between 1992 and 2000, Mr. Kwok had continuously organised charitable concerts to help raise funds for handicapped children and centres for senior citizens with encouraging and positive results. By early 2000 and having gained sufficient community service experience over the years, he finally found the confidence and resolution to set up the 'Aaron Kwok International Charitable Foundation' to help people in need. Over the past three years, funds raised amounted to almost $2 million and were spent on various charitable objectives, such as Hepatitis Free Generation, the Po Leung Kuk education fund, buying a rehabilitation bus for Helping Hands and so on. Seeing how the Foundation was able t help and support so many friends in need has been immensely gratifying and a continuous source of great joy and delight for Mr. Kwok and provided the inspiration to spur him further in his commitment to devote more time and effort in community services. Mr. Kwok's service to the community is well-recognised both locally and internationally. Various States Government of the United States of America had on several occasions dedicated "Day of Mr. Kwok Fu Shing" in honour of him and in recognition of his outstanding achievements. Mr. Kwok also utilised his reputation and image in the entertainment i dustry for the betterment of the society and has taken an active role in the participation of many charitable activities. He has been appointed "Ambassador of The World Heart Day" and "City of Life : Hong Kong it is! Ambassador" for a number of years and charged with the responsibility of promoting Hong Kong. In April this year, the SARS outbreak cast a huge shadow over the people of Hong Kong, causing much uncertainty and suffering for the community, severely depressing the Hong Kong economy and tourist industry and wrecking untold economic and human distress. As an Ambassador of "City of Life: Hong Kong", Mr. Kwok was personally driven by the urgenc to do his utmost to promote our travel industry and in recent months, had been travelling all over the world to publicise and promote Hong Kong. Mr. Kwok is personally convinced that despite the SARS outbreak being a serious setback for the people of Hong Kong, the experience gained therefrom can strengthen and inspire us. Hong Kong can now use his force to galvanise and unite all of us to redouble our efforts to present a new and positive image to the world. Mr. Kwok is profoundly grateful to the Selection Committee the 'Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award' for their recognition in nominating him as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons of 2003. He is extremely overwhelmed, honoured and humbled by this meaningful and prestigious award and will strive even harder in his efforts to continue in his c mmitment to participate in various charitable functions and offices to promote Hong Kong, help care for the young and elderly and all those in need.
