On Tuesday, the No. 5-ranked player on the WTA Tour Samantha Stosur stops by to chat as she prepares for play in the 2012 Sony Ericsson Open in Miami. Singles play in the women's draw starts Tuesday. Stosur, the 2011 U.S. Open champion, is the No. 6 seed in Miami. Her career high ranking is No. 4, which the Australian reached in 2011. She owns 23 doubles titles to go with her three singles trophies. She is a two-time quarterfinalist at the Sony Ericsson Open. Send your questions now and join Stosur Tuesday at 11 a.m. ET! 以下是问答部分(大部分都是老问题 有空我再慢慢翻): Ella (Lyon) Hi Sam ! Is the French Open one of your major goal this season ? Samantha Stosur (11:06 AM) Yeah, sure. I'd love to be able to do that. It's hard to make a goal to win one particular event. Last year was a bit disappointing, so if I could get myself into position like in 2009 and 2010, that would be great. Paul D (melbourne) When is more comfortable playing a match where you are the underdog or a match when you are the easy favourire? Samantha Stosur (11:07 AM) It kind of depends. It depends on the situation and the occasion. If you're the underdog, you feel like you have nothing to lose and if you do lose it doesn't matter. But it's nice to go in as the favorite. You can use that to your advantage, if you get off to a good start, you can get on your opponent. Steve (USA) Do you still surf much? Where's your favorite place to surf? Samantha Stosur (11:07 AM) No, I don't actually. I haven't been in probably the last three preseasons. I'm sure my form is slacking a little bit. Frank (USA) What's your favorite thing to do in Miami (other than play tennis)? Samantha Stosur (11:08 AM) To be honest, I haven't really done too much in Miami. I guess you could try and go to the beach one day. It's hard that now you have a tournament right after, so after the tournament, you go off to that. I'd have to ask some locals to find out what to see. Katherine (Dorset) You rarely challenge line calls although your opponents seem to do it a lot (Kirelinko, Sharapova, etc). Is that part of your on-court strategy, or is it just more in keeping with your pretty laid-back personality? Samantha Stosur (11:09 AM) If it's a call that I think is in or out, I'll challenge. I think sometimes I look to the umpire and in a way ask them what they think, and if they're unsure, I'll challenge. Some matches you use it more than others. Lucy (Rome) Hi Sam ! Is reaching the number one spot still a goal of yours ? Samantha Stosur (11:10 AM) Yeah, I'd love to be able to make that ranking and be No. 1, but it's not something you can set out to say you'll achieve that. You can only focus on the tennis you're playing and hope that you get there. I'd love for it to happen, but it's not a goal I'd write down. Sheila (Houston) How do you cope with the discomfort of flying? Samantha Stosur (11:11 AM) No doubt, you get used to it. You realize what works best for you if you want to sleep or watch movies. It's for sure a part of this life that I don't enjoy too much, but you can't play tennis around the world without doing it. You hope the time passes as quickly as possible. It's not a bad chance to just sit back and do nothing. James (IL) Samantha, what was it like winning the US Open last year? Samantha Stosur (11:12 AM) It was a feeling that's hard to describe. It's something that I've been dreaming of and wanting to achieve since I started playing tennis at 8 or 9. For it to happen, it was really exciting. Afterwards it was quite emotional. You get to see your coach and everyone with you. It was just a great day, not just for me, but for those around me that travel with me and work with me and make me the best tennis player I can be. Marco (Miami) Hi Sammy, can't wait to see you in Miami! You seem like a shy person, very nice, but do you prefer to be recognized on the street or to be a regular person and not get noticed? Samantha Stosur (11:13 AM) I don't mind if I don't get recognized at all. But it's not like I'm getting stopped all of the time either. When people see you and ask for your photo, it's nice because that means they've watched you play and enjoy it. I don't mind to have my time away from it as well. Either is quite all right at the moment. (所以以後如果有机会遇到Sam 可以大方的问她要合照:P) Zachary (Pittsburgh, PA) How has Australia molded you into the tennis player you have become? Samantha Stosur (11:14 AM) Typically in Australia, for some reason, we try to teach good serve technique. It's kind of unusual right now on the women's side to have good serve technique. I try not to stress too much on certain things. Sometimes that's good out on tour things can get stressful. I'm fortunate to grow up in the country where I'm from that I've had good coaches and been supported along the way. Scotty (Arizona) How much luggage do you have to bring on the road with you? Samantha Stosur (11:15 AM) It varies. Definitely can end up with a lot. The Europe trip, sometimes you accumulate a lot of things. I think one time leaving Europe, I had 70 kilos of luggage. I have managed to have that amount a couple of times. SamStosurFans (Australia) Hey mate! Hi Sam! :) In 10 days, it's your birthday. What was the most beautiful gift you received in the past and what is the kind of gifts you like to receive? Thanks! Good luck in Miami and have a wonderful birthday! :) Samantha Stosur (11:17 AM) To be honest, I haven't had many presents given to me on my birthday, because I'm never home. Last year I spent my birthday in Charleston, that was nice. Usually I spend it in Miami. Most of the time it's gone all right, because I've played on my birthday. (听起来好无趣:( ) Utkarsh (India) What kind of food facts do you look into usually to keep you healthy? Samantha Stosur (11:18 AM) Doing this for such a long time, you start to like all sorts of different foods, because the different countries have different types. I love Italian, Asian food, I eat red meat. For me, it's not too difficult, because one of the things I enjoy with the travel is eating out. I try to throw in some nice restaurants along the way. Scott (Northglenn, CO) Love your power game! How often do you lift? Samantha Stosur (11:19 AM) During tournaments, I really don't do that much fitness work. It's just about maintenance. If I have a week at home or a training block, I try to lift weights every second day, try to get in some cardio work with a boxing session or swimming, something you can't get in during a tournament. Chantal (Chicago) Hi Sam!! I'm a big fan of yours, you inspire me on so many levels - just wanted to say thank you and wish you all the best in 2012! I love it when you win but just watching your athletic body in such terrific shape is a pure pleasure and inspiration, makes me wanna get my butt of the couch and go for jogging!! My question is : what time do you usually wake up and what's your favorite breakfast? Samantha Stosur (11:20 AM) Waking up varies. If you play a night match then you sleep in the next day. But if you play early, you're up early. It's hard to have a set schedule. My favorite thing for breakfast, definitely coffee, maybe some eggs, toast, yogurt. It varies, but that's what I try to get the most if I have a match. Lindy (Texas USA) What is your favorite surface and why? Samantha Stosur (11:20 AM) Probably a slow to medium paced hard court that bounces up high and then clay. Scott (Northglenn, CO) Sam, I'm going to the Family Circle tourney in Charleston in a few weeks? Are you playing that? And can I get an autograph please? Samantha Stosur (11:21 AM) I will be there. I love that tournament. It's one of my favorite of the year. If it can work to play that, then I'm there. Chet (usa) How long does a rackey usually last? Samantha Stosur (11:21 AM) I typically travel with 6 rackets and I usually change them 4 times a year. I've used the same rackets since Januaray. Samantha Stosur (11:22 AM) Thanks for supporting me. I hope you keep watching. I hope to win some exciting matches for you! --
