Roma captain Francesco Totti has resumed writing his weekly column in the Corriere dello Sport newspaper this week and the striker has launched yet another attack on his detractors who have questioned the terms of his new deal. Totti’s current contract will run out next summer and the 33-year-old is expected to put pen to paper on a new five-year deal before Christmas. “I was told of some chit-chat that is going on in uptown Rome about the opportunity to hand me a certain type of contract,” writes Totti. “The names of these individuals were not mentioned, but I can imagine it’s the same people who then come to me asking for photos or gadgets and autographed shirts before going on to talk bad about me. “I think I have showed on the pitch over the years what I represent as a player…” Former Lazio star Paolo Di Canio has blasted what he sees as the ridiculous possibility of Totti coming out of international retirement to make the Italy squad for next year’s World Cup finals.
