After a summer in which it seemed almost inevitable that Marco Andreolli would leave Roma in order to find regular football, Bari brought the issue to its conclusion yesterday. The Galletti completed a loan deal for Lecce's defender Souleymane Diamoutene, who spent the second half of last season with the Lupi, which has effectively ended their interest in the Roma centre-back. "After the arrival of Diamoutene in Bari, [Andreolli's] discussions with the Pugliesi have been interrupted," the player's agent, Patrick Bastianelli, explained to Sky Sport 24. "At this time, the Giallorossi have decided to keep him." The 23-year-old has spent the last 18 months out on loan gaining first-team experience at Vicenza and Sassuolo, and Luciano Spalletti was unwilling to lose him again before he could sign a replacement. The loan signing of Nicolas Burdisso was thought to have pre-empted Andreolli's transfer, but it now appears that the former Inter defender will remain with the Giallorossi.
