The capital club were controversially held by the leaders after Mario Balotelli seemed to dive to win a penalty. Spalletti was livid after the final whistle and his angry outbursts have cost him a match in the stands. “Spalletti is banned for protesting against the referee with insulting expressions after the game,” judge Gianpaolo Tosel confirmed. Roma were also fined ￡7,500 for racist insults directed at Balotelli by their fans. “On two occasions in the second half, Roma supporters sang racially discriminative songs aimed at an opposing player,” Tosel explained.
