"If I was forced to leave then I would accept to go for the good of the club," stated the Italian international. However, Roma’s sporting director Franco Baldini has quickly moved to reassure fans that they won’t sacrifice the No 10. "If Totti has the desire to go and play for another club because he fears that Roma will not be competitive then we can discuss it," he stated. "But there is no need for us to sell him so that we can be registered for next season’s League campaign." These are tough financial times for the Giallorossi who do have a mountain of debt to clear. The situation almost resolved itself last month when Russian company Nafta Moskva opened talks to buy the outfit. However, just when a deal seemed close they pulled out. That restarted rumours which suggested that the club might be forced to sell a few of their gems in the summer. Brazilian Emerson is set to be sold, but Totti too is causing interest on the transfer market with Real Madrid interested. Totti added that he would favour a move to the Spanish giants, who are reportedly willing to pay around ￡30m.
