The world champion was paired with a move to Inter last summer, as the hitman was keen to play in the Champions League and compete for the Scudetto, but he eventually decided to stay in Tuscany. The Viola are currently seventh in the table with 35 points, eight points shy of a Champions League spot, and Toni might consider a summer move if the Gigliati were not to qualify for next season's tournament. Reports have even suggested that Toni only agreed to stay last summer after he was guaranteed that he would be allowed to leave in 2007. Last year's Capocannoniere has recently been linked with Juventus, where he might replace David Trezeguet, but Inter could also renew their interest, as Hernan Crespo could return to Chelsea. The striker is valued at ￡14m and part of the money earned by Toni's sale could be used to sign his successor, thought to be the in-form Bianchi.
