http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/aug24m.html Rigano sold to Messina Thursday 24 August, 2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fiorentina have confirmed that crowd favourite Christian Rigano has been sold to Serie A minnows Messina. “Rigano has joined Messina on a permanent basis,” revealed Viola sporting director Pantaleo Corvino. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Christian who was very important for us, through his goals, for our climb from Serie C2 to Serie A.” The 32-year-old hit the headlines in Italian football when he scored 30 goals in 32 games for the club in the 2002-03 C2 campaign, when the outfit were known as Florentia Viola. He followed that up by netting 23 goals in Serie B, but never quite managed to repeat such scoring feats at the highest level. After spending last term on loan at Empoli, Rigano has now rejoined Messina after a season there in 1997-98 when he grabbed three goals in 29 games.
